We have been visiting this restaurant since 2008 and I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. The flavours are fantastic and the meat is always really tender. Yes it is probably more expensive than other restaurants but for the quality of the food I am more than happy to pay it. The staff were excellent and the restaurant itself is immaculate.
Visited with our friends for a celibration meal for our wedding anniversary, our first visit, and our last. Was a farce from beginning to end, when we left after only having managed to order drinks. Firstly we were offered a menu, and I mean just one. When we asked for more we were told there was only one because of covid restrictions. There was a bar code on the table to be scanned. This was problematic for our group, one member did not have the required app on her mobile, and my wife has serious visual problem and could certainly not have read the menu from a mobil. However, we perceived and began choosing items from the menu. But we also hit a snag, it seemed if rice was needed as a gaurnacion it was to be order as another meal. We needed clarification but no member of staff was available. Apparently all three members of staff were needed outside to deal with a group of six customers who had just arrived. Eventually a male member of staff came, assumily to take our order, I say assumiliy as he never spoke. My wife asked him about the ordering of rice etc. He looked at her and completly ignored her and again never spoke. He dismissed her entirely, he squeezed past her to , again assuming wait for my order, after all as a man I was clearly more able than my wife. My wife had asked him the question in English, wrongly assuming all staff spoke some English. He clearly could not, that 's not a problem, I and my wife speak a passable Spanish, she much more adroitly than l, as I am deaf. When I asked him , in Castilian, why he had ignored my wife 's question , he just left the table. But still we persevered. We finally attracted the attention of another waiter who we were able to ask our question to. Yes we did have to order any rice accompaniment from the meal menu. Strange, but at least now we know. Back to our one menu to sort out our order. At last we were ready to order. Just then another waitress came to our table. Good we thought, she realises we are ready to order. But no, she had come to take away our one menu to give to another customer. We needed, what was to use a very unfamiliar menu, to order our meal, we now didn 't have it. When the waitress came for our order my wife explained she was blind and I needed a menu to read to order. The waitress response was to shrug her shoulders in a clear indicator of her thinking "so what, that 's your problem. We decided to leave, much the poorer for the experience. The level of apparent discrimination was astounding. We paid for the beer we had partially drunk and started to leave. Another member of staff then came, she did not introduce herself but started asking what the problem was. We by this time were in no mood to discuss things, we continued to leave. This member of staff then began to shout and was clearly not interested in hearing what had occurred. She did offer to refund the 12€ we had paid but by now things had deteriorated so far that we refused the refund. We just wanted to leave and put the whole sorry affair behind us. The whole experience reminded my of eating in a college training g restaurant and being served by first year catering students in their first week. All the mistakes could have been sorted quite easily; if the waiter only spoke Spanish he could have said so, we would have managed in our imperfect castiliano, if the waitress that needed the menu had explained another customer needed the menu and could she take our order now, better still print single sheet menus that can be disposed of after one order. The menu is probably the most confusing I have ever seen, it follows a strange logic that makes it difficult to use, and even more difficult to remember what you wish to order. One other issue is no were is there information regarding credit or debit cards being accepted. If you intend to have a 100€ plus meal you may need to have this information before you commit yourself. To summarise, the site looks very good, the ambience is very good, the service, a d the staff we encounter are appalingly unproffessionel and have little understanding of customer service, even, at times slipping into discriminatory and sexist behaviour. Would have given it minus points if I could have
We had Christmas lunch at Singapore Garden. Peking duck is a bit of a festive tradition for us and with no M&S we started with Tortitas de pato crujientes con cebolletas, pepino y salsa hoisin (y zanahorias? . The duck was dried out and the carrot strips were unusual. The recommendation of a prawn dish was excellent (Langostines Sukiyaki and the Singapore rice was nice. Excellent service. Lovely surroundings. The Singapore Garden is very family friendly. It even has a bouncy castle
Setting 10/10, food 10/10, staff 10/10...... the only let down was that we were a table of 4, and 3 of us got our food and had to wait about 8 minutes approx before the 4th person received their food ...... 2 of us actually finished our deserts before the 3rd desert came. Better kitchen planning and it is a perfect place.
