I’m also a big fan of their tortas. The bread is substantial yet soft and firm enough to hold everything together. You start with a layer of refried beans, then add your choice of meat, topped with some Mexican cheese, and a generous drizzle of green sauce. It’s divine! I even introduced my parents to King Taco, so picture three Chinito fans digging into a feast of chicken tamales, rotisserie chicken, carne asada burritos, and my mom’s favorite, tacos al pastor. They absolutely love it! Sometimes I think I must have been Mexican in a past life because I enjoy it so much. It’s funny to reflect that I would have never dated a guy who was a Grand Prix fan; I wouldn't have discovered King Taco, which has a stand every April at the Long Beach Grand Prix. My inner Mexican would have gone wild if I missed out on that! This place is great because it has two registers to keep the lines moving quickly, and tons of staff to fill orders. They accept debit and credit cards, which is a plus since some other King Taco locations only take cash. There’s also a private parking lot on both sides of the building with separate entrances, making it super easy to access regardless of which direction you're coming from. In winter, especially on cold and rainy nights like this, they serve freshly made hot atole! The only thing I’m not a fan of is their nachos. The chips aren’t fresh (unlike at Acapulco or El Torito), and the cheese is a bit on the rough side.
