Love their food. Really relaxed with great sushi. I highly recommend for anyone in the area.
We found this gem right when Covid started shutting places down. Luckily it was awesome carry out and now it is one of our favorite Sushi restaurants. great miso soup and their Hollywood roll is a favorite. delicious food and nice staff. nice outdoor seating area too
Fresh, crisp and cold raw yumminess! They do not hold back on the amount provided. The rolls are definitely large and filling--seriously, one only needs maybe one or two signature rolls. In addition to trying the Playboy Roll and Fancy Tuna Roll, the shrimp fried rice was AMAZING. Please note that when they state crab it is processed crab (stick or shredded), which I detest, so I wish they would state kani instead of crab on the menu or some other type of description. On top of your order, you typically receive miso soup and a mini piece of sponge cheesecake on-the-house.
During a lunchtime stop, I came across some positive reviews and attractive photos of UMI Sushi, so I decided to give it a shot. As I entered, I noticed the sushi counter with piles of pre-sliced sashimi that looked rather haphazardly arranged, which instantly filled me with regret. While the fish wasn’t the freshest, it wasn’t terrible either. The rolls without raw fish were quite tasty, but the nigiri had an excessive amount of rice, and the fish itself had a slightly off flavor. The wasabi served looked a strikingly unnatural shade of green—think Hulk green. Once you've tasted exceptional sushi, it becomes hard to settle for anything less. Unfortunately, the Baltimore area doesn’t seem to offer many options for high-quality sushi, making UMI appear somewhat acceptable for a neighborhood spot. It seems to cater to those who are content with C-grade sushi. If I had to rate it, I would give UMI a 3 out of 10.
