It was written up in Hinsdale Magazine over the summer and, at that time, there was a separate menu for Kindred which is what I was expecting. Upon arrival, it is now a merged menu between Ever Onward and Kindred with some of the entrees removed. It seems to be many restaurants in one large space and the owners don't know what to do with themes, tying the menu items, etc. between a sports bar and a higher end restaurant. Some items were very good beet salad with salmon portion as an example. And the cocktails were solid. Other items missed fish tacos with fish very dry and not flavorful, smoked tomato pasta sauce too watery/runny. Service was good/pleasant. But this is a big space and we were there on a Saturday with very few tables seated. Owners need to decide what they want to be and what menu they offer quickly or they won't survive.
I think they had all the right ideas when creating the menu, but didn't deliver fully. The flavors were great, the sauce and flavor is good, but quality was lacking for sure. It's like they had a great idea and the right people but not the budget. Service was great but read more like a pub/bar eatery than a restaurant. The same goes for the new design and feel of the space, it's like they started with all the right elements and in some spaces you can tell it was thought out, then other places it just feels off... Hope to give it another shot once they can tie some loose ends
Hosted my grandmother's surprise 75th birthday dinner for 40 guests and could not have been more pleased! From the start, Tom was incredible at communicating, being flexible, and accommodating for our group. The service was IMPECCABLE (thank you Rachel!!! and the food was INCREDIBLE (thank you Chefs ! We will look forward to hosting future events here!
They served us a pretzel that was still frozen in the middle. Small portions of meat for our salmon and steak dinners also. Meal was not worth the $90 it ended up being with a couple drinks and entrees.
This place was disgusting. We only ordered nachos and were the worst we ever tried. I got a sangria and it taste like fruit punch no alcohol. The place was empty. On a Friday. Our server was amazing. Her boss was annoying hovering all over her. We gave her a great tip. I felt bad for the server. We thought we were going to eat there then after trying nachos we left and went to “victory”. I don’t understand the concept of 3 different names it was confusing to where to go and sit. I think is a waste of space.
