Poets House Afternoon Tea - Ely

We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday with a delightful tea. The portions were so generous that we had to take some home. The staff were fantastic, and the venue felt very safe in terms of COVID precautions. I would recommend this place for a peaceful afternoon, especially on a rainy day.

The staff were all very friendly, and there was hand sanitizer available. The tables were spaced out, ensuring we weren’t close to anyone else. The food was delicious and beautifully presented.

The venue is charming, exquisitely decorated, and tranquil. The food was decent, though not exceptional. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. The server who seated us forgot to provide cutlery, and the person who served our afternoon tea didn't explain what we were being offered. We were also not offered refills for our tea and coffee, even though we were entitled to them. Additionally, we had to ask for napkins. Overall, the service wasn't terrible, but given the price, I expected a bit more attention to detail.
