The Docky Hut Cafe - Ely

Lovely relaxing place to visit and spend some peaceful time watching birds, the lovely flat board walk is great for when the weather is not so good. Nice clean toilets, large carpark and places to eat and drink.There is also a den making section for the children and adults just on the edge of the woods ideal to get creative.

A great venue to enjoy a walk along the boardwalk, or surrounding paths. Can get busy on Bank Holidays, so try and avoid !? Recommended.

This Nature reserve was such a refreshing change from the other Natuonal trust properties most of which are typical palatial manors or open woodlands. This is an undrained marshland with over 2000 acres. One could spend days exploring this place across various fens.The trust and park rangers have done a phenomenal job preserving this reserve in its pristine form. There are plenty of activities here for kids including a 45 min boat ride through the fen. The staff at here are super friendly and guide you with through a number of routes. There is a cycle rental stand as well offering bikes at nominal rates. The cafe too is well stocked with many hot and cold options. Overall, a great place for a day's outing with the family.

The restaurant is situated in a stunning location, teeming with fascinating wildlife. The entry fee is definitely worth it. The grounds offer a delightful little adventure, and everything is well-maintained. Mike from the visitor center is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, providing us with insights about the country and its history. The restrooms are clean, and parking was effortless.

This place is excellent for both paying and non-paying visitors seeking fresh air and a connection with nature. The gift shop is delightful, and there’s a boardwalk route that costs £8. The staff are friendly and helpful, offering guidance to anyone looking to explore the other routes. The cat park is a fun addition, but be sure to head back by 4:30 PM, as they close the area at that time. The café was clean and offered a regular selection of hot meals and drinks, as well as sandwiches and cakes. Be sure to dress warmly and prepare for muddy boots in the winter! There are also helpful information boards available, making for a really enjoyable afternoon.
