Modern Times Far West Lounge

Really cute and large location! Parking is hard but it's hard everywhere. Open atmosphere and dog friendly. Lots of bev options and a decent food menu! The staff was nice! I would come back!

Good vibes. Cool decor. Good music selection. Large drink selection. Good amount of non beer drinks. The coffee cake stout was very flavorful. I would definitely get it again. The fruitlands was crisp and refreshing.

EAT THE FOOD!! Great spot right in the main drag in Encinitas. The food here is FANTASTIC!! Everything on the food menu is vegan/ plant base. The vegan smash deluxe burger is amazing. The French fries are some of the best I have had. The brussels sprouts were tasty, but just a bit too much salt. The portions are big. Come hungry. I enjoy eating animals, but it's great to have tasty vegan food as well. More than 32 beers on tap, they have something for everyone. If you are a non-drinker they usually have bubbly water on tap. Decor is vintage awesome. Merch and beers to go available. Plenty of seating. Staff is friendly with a super chill vibe.

Long before Covid, I use to review quite frequently breweries via invites from The Secret Hopper. Fast forward to recently, Modern Times in Encinitas is the one of the first I've accepted since lockdown days! I sat at the expansive window opened to the fresh air by myself and read sections of the NYT with a Hazy IPA while waiting for my order of Blistered Shishito Peppers, and a Somen Noodle Salad. I enjoy spicy food but this round of peppers was a bit on the really hot end of the heat ometer. Thankful for the cold beer and bright salad to cool down my taste buds! If you're looking for balance to go with a couple glasses of cold brew, order up from the 100% plant based menu at Modern Times Encinitas for side kicks, or just enjoy the vintage decor collections displayed on the walls. Service staff is lax, like most breweries.

Was pleasantly surprised seeing one of my favorite breweries in Encinitas. Their bar menu is fully vegan, which is amazing in itself, and crazy tasty! Pair this with delicious beer and we got one of the hottest places on the 101.
