New Hong Kong - Enfield

I 've been ordering from New Hong Kong EN1 for many years and generally its been ok, but of late its been very poor. The last time I ordered food it was horrible and that was about 10 months so today I thought I would try it again and to my disappointment it was bad again. The rice was obviously reheated as the fat had congealed and left a film on it, so when it was reheated today it was a greasy mess, tasting of a weird lard consistency which made the rice clumpy and horrible. The chow mien noodles where also reheated as they were over cooked and hard and inedible. The beef was also as tough as old boots. The prawns are never deveined, so dishes with prawns or prawn balls always have prawn faeces in them. Even my cats won 't eat the chicken from the chicken balls, what does that tell you ? If they can have a large order ready within 6 minutes of ordering you know its not fresh and in my experience it never is. In December 2015 they had a Food Hygiene Rating of 1 and in my opinion shouldn 't be allowed to trade, not sure what it is today. Its also expensive with price increases right across the whole menu for really sub standard re-heated junk, ripping off and think they are foxing the loyal local customers for years. I placed an order on Uber Eats and waited 2 hours for my food to be delivered. When I called the restaurant to inquire about my order, the woman on the phone was extremely rude. She laughed and was disrespectful when I asked about my food after waiting for 2 hours. When I requested a refund for the £20 meal, she refused and continued to be rude before hanging up on me. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again.

I have ordered from this restaurant multiple times now, and I have been very pleased with all the dishes I have chosen. The crispy seaweed was especially delicious, with a generous portion size and perfect crispiness. The noodles were also very tasty. Some people may find the dishes a bit salty, which could make them thirsty afterwards, but personally, I didn't mind it at all. The quality of the food reminds me of the traditional takeout places I used to eat at when I was younger, so I will definitely be ordering from here again.

I often order takeout from this restaurant. The food is delicious and the delivery is quick and friendly. The food always arrives hot and there is plenty of it.

This is me and my families favourite Chinese takeaway. The food is great and doesn’t take too long to arrive either. Staff are so polite over the phone. Couldn’t recommend enough. Best Chinese in Enfield.
