I want to return alone on this basis. the depleted beer are in excellent condition and well chosen. prices are competitive. negatiw: unfortunately the pub was badly flooded and so they had to drain the historic building. it now has identity furniture, white color and fake electric fires. no dogs allowed in the “Pub” ie it is not a pub, but a restaurant in harmony with the French cuisine, the front of the house staff turn the French hire to service ie rude. a single waiter who visits the whole restaurant runs from the feet. spices (e.g. salt, pfeffer) are made available in small paper cachets like a bad caffe.
This pub is only the best country pub there and once a year for the bastille day they put on a music festival for the whole weekend. the owners jerome and stacey are fantastic, very welcoming. then to finish it by jerome, his magic works in the kitchen to serve them a brilliant menu. highly recommended.
Beautifully cooked, generous portions are served here, with a French whirl. it's really one of the best gastropubs in oxfordshire
We went there because one of our party years ago remembered that we really good färger and maische with an amazing heavy. we were not disappointed. two light disappointments were the offer of puddings, reduced further because crepps were not made in this night, and the noise from the road occasionally distracted us while we were sitting outside in the beautiful garden. the sausage and maic with gravur is definitely worth a visit. they can choose to have two different types that can make for a good rich under a group. there was also a good selection of alternatives, including at least a few interesting fish dishes.
First time in 5 yrs, still excellent food and beers, all served up by the marvellous bar lady, and of course Jerome. See ya soon, hopefully.
