Sam's Southern Eatery - Enid

This is a great spot for seafood! The manager seated us at a nice table, and the food was excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic as well. I will definitely return!

Detailed Experience: The floors were noticeably dirty, with black streaks of grime all over. I had to struggle to pull my sandals off the carpet with each step, and the tiles were slick with grease, especially in the bathroom. After touching the chairs, my hands felt sticky and grimy. I even noticed other customers wiping down their own tables with napkins before sitting down. While the staff was friendly, it was clear they were understaffed, which seems to be a common issue these days. Additionally, the digital menu was misleading. I ordered chicken wings for my son, expecting to pay $7.99 for six, but they actually cost $11.99, which felt quite overpriced considering the quality of the food and the overall dining environment.

I hoped that the gumbo would be better, but it was served cold, gritty, and slimy. I truly love gumbo, but this was the first time I felt compelled to throw away the entire $8.99 I spent, including tax, delivery, and tip. It was an embarrassing waste of money. The fried fish was decent, and the red beans and rice were passable, but they really needed hot sauce to enhance the flavor. Reflecting on this experience, I realize I should have been more cautious about ordering seafood and oysters in Enid, Oklahoma—of all places! I’m not criticizing Enid; my wife was born here—I’m merely pointing out that there are no nearby oceans or seas for fresh seafood. I had a fantastic experience! We ordered the #2 burger basket, and I have to say, the burgers were made with fresh, hand-formed patties! They were huge! We will definitely be coming back. Sorry for the sideways pictures. The prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes.

Once we got to the car, I checked my change purse and found a $10 bill along with two $1 bills. It occurred to me that she might not have given me my receipt because she had overcharged me by a dollar. While it may seem like a minor amount, I can’t help but wonder how many other customers she might be doing this to daily. To top it off, she even charged my husband 50 cents for a glass of water!
