The food itself is not that awesome, except for the roast meats. Don't get me wrong. It's better than 90 percent of the places that purport to serve Chinese but I have come to expect better from Merivale. Still its worth a try if only to experience the quirkiness of it all.
We had a really great experience at Queen Chow. We didn’t have a booking however there were plenty of tables in the bar both upstairs and downstairs (we sat upstairs). Love the transformation of this pub which used to be my local between 2000 and 2006, not the dodgy dive it was then that is for sure. We had the Hiramasa Kingfish sashimi, steamed dim sum platter, and half roast duck, all fantastic. The cocktails were phenom! I wish we didn’t drive so we could have hung around for Merivale’s 49% off all drinks in June deal. We will definitely return. Sooner rather than later.
Great ambience and a surprisingly diverse cocktail list (although some are rather experimental). For vegans and vegetarians, the salt and pepper tofu was fabulous.
I love that there is a Merivale restaurant in the hood. It’s Chinese food meets the local pub and it works. I loved the quirkiness of the fitout as much as I loved the food. The Peking Duck is darn awesome. #queenchow #pekingduck
Happy Valentines! We had an early celebration at Queen Chow in Enmore. For entree we had the wagyu beef and black bean sang Choi bao which was really yummy! The oven baked bbq pork puffs were nice too albeit a bit too buttery for my taste.<br/ <br/ For mains we had the pippies with XO sauce and fried bread and a stir fried Shanghai noodles with shredded duck and kai lan. Finished with a long forgotten but used to be a favorite dessert, fried ice cream! The one here is huge!
