We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We all loved our main dishes (roast beef, roast chicken, and a burger), and the shared scallop starter was delicious. The service was impeccable.
Had to wait nearly an hour for our pre-booked table on Mothering Sunday which meant we sat down at 8.30pm, far too late for me. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented but unfortunately, the waiter left much to be desired, no please or thank you and literally throwing the cutlery and food at us. They 're obviously understaffed and should have given booking windows when to get there and when to leave like a lot of restaurants do especially on special days. Giving the excuse that people arrive late and it has a knock-on effect isn 't valid and unfair on those who arrive on time. I 'm not normally a complainer but this happened the last time we visited George and Dragon a couple of months ago so won 't be returning. A great shame.
Visited Valentine's Day. Do not intend to use the set menu, but it looked nice and the champagne offer was pretty good. It was delicious. Alec was a loan to the pub.
Love this restaurant, although the table we asked was not reserved and the service at the bar was slower on the staff numbers.
