The restaurant serves great food with friendly service and plays a variety of popular music, from Led Zeppelin to Prince, consistently.
When there are no seats left out front (I like to leave those for the puppy people <3) the dining room inside is just like pulling up a chair in a worn but comfy dining room. Servings are generous and the pea haloumi pancakes...are my go-to. They're huge, and thankfully a half-serve is also available. We often bring friends here for a taste of cheery casual Newtown hospitality.
I'm so sad we didn't find this place until our last morning in Sydney. The coffee and food were incredible. My husband had the sweet pancakes with ice cream for breakfast. I had eggs, toast, and haloumi. We also had an almond milk mocha and...a flat white. Delicious.
The coffee's not bad hot, rich and creamy and it's a pretty cheap cafe but there's nothing to distinguish it. They dress up very basic food on multiple cute plates but it's the same sort of breakfast food you get at a cheap...diner. Good place for coffee though.
