I have been there with my wife, with my kids, and with my grand kids. My staple is the bacon and eggs with home fries and throw in the onions. This is done perfectly. There is usually a special. Last visit we had pancakes with strawberry rhubarb . Out of this world. The restaurant itself is very clean , although a little dated but this just adds to the friendly country feel. The staff are great and very friendly. They always seem to be right there filling your coffee cup.Prices are very reasonable.
Today is Sept. 11, 2016 and we were on our way to Windsor and decided to stop in at the Spoonz Restaurant for some breakfast. It has been well over a year since our last visit so time stop. My wife ordered the small French Toast order and I went for my usual two eggs over easy, link sausage, potatoes and whole wheat toast. Our meals came rather promptly and the staff was courteous. My wife had no complaints but she noticed right away that my three sausage links had a real dried our appearance. They were exactly that dry and no taste. The potatoes were a little on the greasy side so I didn't finish them. Don't get me wrong, the breakfast was okay but just so. I have had spectacular breakfasts in our travels and those however are far and few between.
Spoonz is a little restaurant with excellent prices for great home style food. If you are not looking for something fancy and friendly service is your style this is an economical place to dine.
We don't live in the town of Essex but had to drive through there today Sat. Oct. 24 and noticed the unique sign on the front of this strip mall restaurant that showed two sunny side up eggs in the place of the two o's in the name Spoonz. This is what caught our attention and we decided to stop for breakfast. We were not sorry. The place is very plain (mostly booths) but it was busy. We ordered our usual breakfast items consisting of eggs over easy, sausage links, potatoes with grilled onions mixed in and nicely buttered toast and coffee while my wife went for the French toast. Since she is a lighter eater than me, the waitress suggested that she could order from the kid's menu which was also a much better value. You don't see this happening very often and we were pleased. Everything was well prepared and the service was quick and with a smile. We would not hesitate to return when out this way. Or we may just go out of our way and make a special effort for another fine breakfast. They are open for breakfast and lunch from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm.
The only positive I have to say is that this restaurant has good prices.. breakfast is pretty reasonably priced. My experience was awful it is not easy to find and once I had a table, the waitress forgot about us and admitted it when...she came back for our drink orders minutes later. The restaurant wasn’t busy but we waited hour for orders of breakfast which was only eggs, toast, and potatoes. The food was greasy and not worth the wait. I was disappointed in the service and my experience. giving stars only because of price
