The food was excellent and not overpriced but make sure that you are hungry because portions are big. It is just on the edge of the village, for those of you who know the excellent El Legado, it is about 200 m further up the road. Well worth a visit and the support from visitors because restaurants appear to close faster than they open in Cancelada. Please note I have not rated below because the buttons are not operating
The rustic style inside makes the restaurant feel cosy. The service is very friendly and professional. There is a lot to choose from in the extensive menu. We opted for steak as a main course and it was unfortunately lacking in flavour although it was tender and cooked perfectly. A shame and we will go elsewhere for steak in the future.
After the demise of Pura Sangre in Cancelada it’s good to see another relatively new eatery in the village, and a really good one it is too. It looks like this place used to be a little farm or similar and opened as a restaurant late 2015. It’s right on Camino Loma de Retamar just 100m north of the village. From the old part of the village, walk up the road past El Legado Restaurant and it’s just at the end of the first field beyond the last of the residential buildings. We’re pleased to see that TA has an accurate map pin for El Horno. We were a bit disappointed for the owners though. Yes, it was early February, and although we’d decided to eat quite early, on the evening we came here, by the time we left, there was only one other table occupied. But that’s no reflection of the food which was first class, and of course it could of have been busier later when the Spanish usually come out. After you sit down you get complimentary bread and olives, both of which were better than in many places. Main course pork dishes were excellent with homemade sauces, there’s a really interesting selection on the wine list, and superb coffee to finish. The many good restaurants in this little village continue to impress and despite its name, eating out is definitely not cancelled in this part of Estepona Municipality, even in winter. If we’re in the area in future, we’ll definitely look up El Horno again.
In an improving area, this was recommended to us. It looks modest from the outside but the restaurant area is like the Dr Who's Tardis. The food was very good quality, well cooked and good portions. There's a small outside and bar area (nice feel to it), with very good service with English speaking staff. A nice place for a quiet lunch.
Nice meals , perfect service and a Nice atmosphere! Situated in a small village .. large parking place
