I particularly enjoyed the salad and found the chicken and beef to be well cooked. The food is very authentic to Myanmar, although the portions are on the smaller side and prices are a bit high. Despite this, it is definitely worth a visit as it offers a unique dining experience.
I visited this restaurant with my family who are locals in Toronto. It is a simple restaurant with delicious food at affordable prices. We shared salads and curries among the four of us and all of them were fantastic. The aromas of chicken and beef dishes were delightful, and the chicken curry had the perfect level of spice. I didn't know much about Burmese food besides curries, so the salads were a pleasant surprise - very fresh and crunchy without being dry. The tea leaf salad is a must-try, a truly unique dish. The portion sizes are moderate but the prices are a bit on the higher side, however, the value is worth it. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!
After reading reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to give this restaurant a try and we are so happy we did! Other reviewers have mentioned that if you enjoy Thai food, you will enjoy this restaurant as well. We found the food to be similar to Thai cuisine, but with its own unique twist. It's not like typical North American Chinese food. The owner took the time to explain the dishes to us and informed us that not all items on the menu are always available due to sourcing from Myanmar. They also recommended portion sizes to ensure we didn't overorder. We started with the green tea leaf salad, which was flavorful and fresh. I had the Shan style noodles and my husband had the spicy lime chicken curry with coconut rice, both of which were delicious. The meals also came with a tasty soup. Despite the restaurant being located in a small strip mall, the food made up for any lack of atmosphere. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience and would definitely return to try more of their unique and delicious dishes. Come and give it a try!
My daughter came here once to bring me here. Restaurant is located in a small street plaza and easily missed. The first time to taste Myanmar food and the owner spend about 10 minutes to tell us food types from different parts of Myanmar... after we finished lunch. Interesting taste will try again for other dishes.
I loved the Royal Myanmar. Small, quiet, clean, with good quality home cooked meals and helpful staff. I had read other reviews of this restaurant and was excited to try Burmese food, which I have never had before. And I was happy and impressed. I...ordered the coconut, chicken, noodle dish which came with soup, and Burmese tea, and I also had dessert. The food was very flavourful, a rich combination of flavours that were both familiar and unique. If I had to describe it to someone also unfamiliar, I would say it most closely resembles a combination of thai curry and chinese. It was very mild, and had a great combination of textures as well. They owner was very helpful because I didn't know how to eat it, and she kindly explained that I should not pour the soup into it (which I wouldn't have done but could appreciate some might), and that I should mix everything together first in my bowl and then eat it, which was actually very helpful because it mixed the textures together. I loved the tea, which was maybe a green tea? with a woody, earthy taste. Anyway, the portions were a perfect size and I will definitely be back. In fact, this will probably be my new go-to place for lunch whenever I work in the area. I'd like to try as many things on the menu as I can.
