As my readers know it is very rare I give such ratings. This place have been here for ages and I have been here many years back - hence that is why I recommended coming here on Saturday night after a good last experience. Anyways I will make this short. Service was absolutely fantastic , the waitress reminded me of me when I served. The have a great selection of beers on tap and they have Kilkenny so I really enjoyed drinking that. The place has great Irish decor and many tables and booths and a very cute patio , basically everything you would want at such a pub. So this place would be great for a large crowd or to hold a party or event. With all of that being said I ordered the Nachos ( 18$ ) plus extra cheese $(3) and Chicken (5$) . I asked the waitress for no olives. The nachos when they arrived , had 2 little pieces of chicken, no cheese at all ( forget the extra cheese ! ) and of course with olives. I don't know if the waitress made a mistake with the olives, but she definitely did not make this 30$ nacho dish this sad. When I told her about the cheese and nachos she apologized ( she later took off the extra cheese off the bill...but that was it). I was not looking for a free dish , but what if I had allergies to olives ? Anyways I know this place was busy and kitchen had more important dishes to make , but something like nachos where all you had to do was sprinkle a little more cheese was not that hard to make or take much time. We also had the calamari which were just okay. This place is not cheap and I was really hoping for above-standard food ( yes even for a nacho dish ). I don't know if i will be a returning customer. Maybe only for a beer. Will add pictures, see the nachos for yourself. Cheers
First time there and i was not impressed at all with my fish and chips. the coding on the fish was hard and the fish did not taste fresh
We were looking for a local place to eat for our Saturday date night and this place did not disappoint. We were able to find free parking at the back of the restaurant, and we scored an awesome booth with a great view of a screen to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs. Great selection of draft beers and extensive menu - my man had the burger and I had the ploughmans platter. Both were really good. It also looks like the nachos are a big seller - maybe next time. Or maybe their prime rib Sunday. Service was attentive and pleasant. Oh yeah - live music on a Saturday night with a lovely jazz band made this an excellent date night that we look for to repeating at this place soon!
We have been at St James few times, the food is always fresh and delicious, better poutine I ever had. For mothers day they had a Three Mushrooms risoto that was to die for, I wish it was in their regular menu. Staff is always very friendly and nice.
Started with Root Beer. I found it too sweet . Then switched to Leffe Brun a better choice. Mussels next very good. Then a half rack of ribs which were very lean and done well. Will definitely return.
