I was sceptical about going to this restaurant after reading the reviews, however, our friend had booked the restaurant and we didn't want to disappoint. We where a table of 6, and we had good service, polite and helpful with selecting dishes, all the food was good (yes I've had better Indian) but we couldn't fault it. Yes there was only another 2 people in the restaurant at the time, but, we had a lovely evening.
We ordered butter chicken but what we were served looked and tasted nothing like it. When I called and spoke with the manager, he said he could only replace the meal on our next order. I offered to return the meal since we hadn't eaten anything yet, but the manager refused to do anything. This lack of customer service is unacceptable as we should receive what we paid for. Despite the manager's refusal, we tried to keep an open mind about the meal. Unfortunately, the pappadums were overcooked, the naan was rubbery and bland, and the curry tasted like it came from a supermarket jar.
We should have realized that something was off when every other restaurant in Ettalong was bustling with customers, while this one only had 4 people dining. The service was extremely slow as most of the staff were focused on preparing take-away orders. The shared entrees we ordered were disappointing - they tasted bland and seemed to be frozen and reheated. The curries we ordered all tasted very similar, lacking in distinct flavors, and the lamb curry was so tough that it was impossible to eat. The wine selection was limited, and we ended up ordering a cheap red merlot from Dan Murphy's that was overpriced at $28 per bottle. This ended up being a costly lesson for us - it's best to avoid restaurants with little to no clientele.
Went on a sat night first thing we noticed Air cond not working well very hot no good when your eating spicy Indian food, the meals were tasty and fresh the spice just right rice servings very small we had to order a 2nd lot,the naan bread was great, the service was attentive, overall we enjoyed the night.
