They knew for years that a big international event came, they saw a shining new stadium on a few blocks away, they should have been aware that they will be the closest restaurant of the event and what the schedule should be. But when many hungry track fans showed up for lunch between morning and afternoon, the result was complete chaos. Wouldn't have prepared them at all. Dozens of tables sit empty, others sit unclean for half an hour or more, while panic hosts scream at potential diners that it would wait a 2 hours to get space and another hour to serve. Not even having a beer or a snack. It is amazing for me that a business that this inability in the treatment of something that she knew will remain in business. They seem to be popular with these reviews (if they are really), but they certainly gave a lot of money last week. The first time I tried to go there during the World Championships was the treatment and condition of the restaurant shockingly chaotic, but I put it out to have a beer and a rather overcooked burger. I thought they were hired and things were better a week later, so I tried to go back, but the situation was actually even worse. So she lost me to the place next door, which served us friendly in less than 20 minutes and was happy to get our business.
Always a fantastic experience here. Excellent food and drink menu we can always count on, rotating seasonal cocktails and designs beers that never lack, and incredibly friendly staff. The host Jackson went beyond and beyond to make sure that our party was all good and had everything we needed, even out of his way to run our drinks orders when they were busy. I will always trust McMenamins to deliver high-quality food, drinks and service, no matter what.
Twenty years later: five full stars. I always came here when I was in college between 1996 and 2000. My wife and I were back in the area for my birthday, and I am glad to say that not only this amazing Brawpub is as great as it was over twenty years ago, it is actually even better. I had the expedition Elk Burger with Fritten, which was a hand-patterned 1/2 lb Elch Burger was perfectly cooked on my request of medium rarely. The burger tasted so good that you could have it by yourself and not complain, but it was loaded with a scinching srumptious coffee bacon jam, a really big black garlic aioli white cheddar. If they give me a bowl of coffee bacon jam, I'd probably eat it. I paired it with the Irish stout, a nitro stout that was a beautiful example of style. Very similar to Guinness, but with further forward chocolate notes. Very creamy head with silky mouth. I wanted to try another style, so I also had the real Hef'n Good. Very fruity what I really like. You can definitely taste the Hallertau Blanc hops with a piney, grassy flavor, but I also have a lot of fruity notes with bananas and citrus as quite prominent. Not sweet, but very well balanced and refreshing. Was particularly good with the frits and a good organic ketchup. My wife had a JR's Jumbo Deluxe with a fried egg, bacon and cheddar, which was also perfectly cooked on her request of a medium, with Clam Chowder and a root beer. It was also worn by the quality of the burger. The Clam-Chowder was good, but the celery in it was a little clamping. We are somehow Chowder Puristen, but so take this with a grain salt. All in all, a fantastic culinary experience. Cosy pub with a look and feeling that has not really changed in two decades, but that is not a criticism. One of my fifteen favorite restaurants everywhere.
Great local restaurant with a wide selection of craft brews. I'm quite fond of their IPAs. Their voodoo chicken strips and burgers are da bomb. Salads and soups are also very good.
