Grimm's Stone Crab - EVERGLADES CITY

While we could easily find Stone Crabs locally—there are plenty of fish markets and restaurants, including famous spots like Joe's Stone Crab, or even try trapping some ourselves—there's something special about visiting the quirky yet charming town of Everglades City. This small town is known for its fishing and tourism, with airboats and access to Everglades National Park, making it a prime spot for fresh Stone Crabs. One of our favorite places to visit is Grimm’s. We often dine in town, but we always make it a point to stop by Grimm's to load up several pounds of crabs into our cooler for the trip home. What I truly appreciate about Grimm's goes beyond the delicious, sweet crab meat; it’s the hospitality. The staff we’ve encountered, both recently and in the past, are consistently laid-back and friendly. Just ask them a question, and they’ll be quick to offer recommendations and insights, genuinely wanting you to enjoy your purchase and come back for more. During our most recent visit, we asked for only part of our order to be cracked. The staff member immediately explained that those should be eaten within a day and shared tips on how to store the others and how long they would stay fresh. He didn’t try to charge us extra for ice and even skipped adding a charge for the mustard sauce because we ordered so many pounds. And, of course, the most important aspect: the freshness and taste. Grimm's has its own boats and traps. Once they catch the claws, they return the crabs to the sea to live another day and then cook the claws right away before packing them on ice. The result? Freshness at its finest. GRIMM'S truly delivers the best of the best!

The stone crab claws are fresh and the service is great. They're priced reasonably too! We'll be coming back.
