Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Sarah and seated near a charming old fireplace, which added to the historic ambiance of the building. Our server, Bridget, walked us through the menu with a smile, assuring Mary that all her preferences were noted. Throughout the evening, we were entertained by Doug Neese, an exceptional piano player whose contemporary music selection included the iconic theme from Casablanca, allowing us to imagine Bogart and Bergman sharing a romantic moment in a corner of the room. We chose a full-bodied Cabernet to accompany our meal. I started with a generous serving of Escargot Pirouette and a Caesar Salad. Known for their premium cuts of beef, I opted for a thick slice of prime rib for my main course. To finish off the evening, I indulged in a Flourless Chocolate Torte. Mary began her meal with Grilled Asparagus and a Balsamic Reduction Paesana Salad, followed by a Puff Pastry filled with vegetables served over a White Wine Velouté. For dessert, she enjoyed warm apples and cranberries cooked in brandy. Towards the end of our meal, Chef Brian made his way around the dining area, taking the time to connect with each guest and ensure that everyone’s experience had met their expectations. For Mary and me, The Bistro at Marshdale provided an outstanding mountain dining experience.
