Loved this place. Heard Barbara had left, returned to Hungary (family reasons), and the place was taken over by someone else. It was only opened Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Drove by the place on 3/19/23, and there was another store in its place.
Great authentic Hungarian food the closest I can get to chowing down on chicken and mushroom paprikash without having to jump on a plane and head to Budapest. The restaurant is a no frills kind of place, but who needs it with the best (and only) Hungarian restaurant in the region.
I lived in Hungary for a short time. I love the food but sadly haven't really had much Hungarian cuisine since I left. The pork paprikas with dumplings is a dish I always would get when I was in Hungary and it was excellent . The goulash was super flavorful and brought back memories . But the highlight for me was the palacsinta (crepe). If you go you can't leave without getting one. I recommend the apricot, but all the flavors are excellent. This place is the real deal. If you've never had Hungarian food and want to try it out this is great place to do it.
Our Corvette Club of 18 enjoyed a great early dinner after returning from a Bucks County covered bridge tour. Barbara's is a family run, homestyle restaurant serving authentic Hungarian dishes. Everything our group ordered was excellent....goulash soup, stuffed cabbages, chicken, pork beef paprika, chicken pork cutlets plus much more. Prices are great Hungarian members of our group said it was good as their mother's home cooking.
