I had never visited this restaurant before. It is situated in a pleasant location near the estuary. However, I found the meal to be disappointing and lacking in quantity. The vegetables were undercooked and there was not enough of them. I did not feel that the meal was worth the price. On the positive side, the service was good. Unfortunately, I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.
We were not impressed with the limited menu options for vegetarians. We all decided to try the nut roast, which was okay but not served hot. Unfortunately, we weren't able to order Christmas pudding because the waitress mistakenly noted us as ordering from the main menu instead of the set menu. Perhaps the experience would be better during a quieter period, but overall, the food did not meet our expectations for a gastro pub. On a positive note, the building was beautiful and there was a lovely fire burning.
Fantastic experience at the Puffing Billy. Food was excellent and the staff were first class!
The Puffing Billy never fails to deliver. We were there this week after some very chilly experiences in other local eateries. The venue was toasty warm with two blazing fires plus hot radiators. The food was excellent and the menu is varied with seasonal options. The people serving were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and they added to the cheer. Beautiful decorations added to the ambience. It is one of my favourite placed to eat.
