Gestalt Haus - Fairfax

Ordered a knackwurst sausage, picked it up at the bar, went over to the mustard bar and added some mustard. Then I sat down and bit into it. Half my mouth was sprayed with sizzling hot grease bursting out of the sausage. It means someone left it in the microwave too long. I was able to eat the sausage after the initial burst of hot grease, but as the week wore on the wound in my palate got worse and worse. Most likely it was a second degree burn. The old palate lining dropped off and the new forming palate lining is super sensitive. Six days later I can't drink hot drinks, can't eat anything on one side of my mouth, can only introduce small bites of food to my mouth and it is painful to swallow. Last night I woke up 3 times to apply benzocaine to my palate to relieve the pain. If they were MacDonalds I would sue them.

Health Status unknown . No kidding, the bathroom and area around the bar full of rodent droppings. Our credit card got hacked after using it there. A special one I only use when eating out. The place is jumping, but forget conversation. If you are a biker who wants some hot dogs and Ok beer after a big ride, this place is for you. If you have kids, want to sit on anything more comfortable than a plank and care about health, try Frandelizio 's around the corner, or the Barefoot Cafe across Sir Francis Drake.

Four of us stopped here for lunch after a local hike. Ordered our food, then waited 40 minutes for three out of the four orders to show up. We let the server know they had forgotten an order. After we waited another 20 minutes, we went to check on the order and they hadn't even started it. Fifteen more minutes and the boxed order was thrown (literally) onto our table. Mediocre food and horrible service

Definitely worth taking a bike ride here to enjoy an awesome lunc I've had Rubens from all over this is number one

I discovered this place when I first moved to Fairfax, and have been coming ever since! Being a mountain biker, it's my favorite place to go after a long ride, with places on the wall to hang up my bike while I grab a bite. They've got good food, especially their grilled cheeses, and have Melon Rose Marin Kombucha, a flavor I haven't been able to find anywhere else! Even with the pandemic, they adapted quickly and well, setting up outside tables so people could still enjoy the good food at a safe distance! Would go here anytime.
