It’s acceptable, but it lacks the charm of traditional red leather booths and a gold-dragon ambiance. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a simple place. They offer all kinds of dishes, including subgums and more. By the way, their Kung Pao is labeled as Gung Pao here — probably a regional variation? We ordered a Tokyo Blaster and a Mai Tai. The Blaster was fun and came with a garnish, while the Mai Tai was without any garnish—keeping it no-frills, I guess. Both drinks were tasty and fairly strong, especially the Mai Tai. Moey opted for the Lunch Special, which included wings, goons, PFR, and teriyaki beef sticks. To be fair, the PFR was the same old cold dish, and the wings were quite small. The goons were decent but had a bright yellow coloring that made them look festive. The teriyaki beef sticks were alright — I’d give them a mediocre rating. I tried the Bird's Nest, which was delicious and very generous in portions. It was loaded with beef, chicken, and various Chinese vegetables, including Pennsylvania mushrooms. The nest itself was made from taro root, resembling a bird’s nest, which was both visually interesting and fun to eat. Everything was drenched in a delightful brown sauce. My companion was feeling quite hungry, so she ordered more of a similar dish with fried shrimp. It was comparable to her previous meal, and she enjoyed it. Since it’s the holiday season, we decided to get two more drinks. Moey ordered another Mai Tai with a garnish this time, and I got an Alabama Slammer (a traditional drink with roots dating back to the Rang-Tang Dynasty) served in a tiki mug with garnish. The prices here are quite reasonable, with drinks starting at around $7.50. While some dishes are good, others could use improvement. Our waitress was excellent and efficiently multitasking. However, I wish the PFR had been freshly made or at least reheated properly. This really detracts from an otherwise pleasant experience. It’s not just a minor issue; this has been a persistent problem in many Chinese restaurants since ancient times. It really doesn't sit well. By the way, I find it intriguing that Portuguese influences have made their way into the Oriental cuisine here, as they proudly feature dishes like Linguica Fried Rice. All in all, it's an intriguing mix.
The food is fantastic! Whenever we have a family gathering, we always choose this place for dinner. The service is excellent as well.
The restaurant has the usual ambiance and decor you'd expect from a Chinese takeout spot, with some tables for dining in. We arrived in the early afternoon and were seated right away. There's a full bar, although we didn't order any drinks. Denise enjoyed the bone-in ribs. The steamed dumplings appeared to have been boiled, similar to those used in wonton soup, and they were just okay. The General Tso's chicken was crunchy and sweet. Overall, the meal was decent.
Not good is being kind. We got two take out meals. Both went in the trash. Teriyaki beef rolled asaparus was described as thinly sliced beef wrapped around asparagus. It was not thinly sliced. It was tough, burned on the edges and wrapped around CANNED asparagus. It was served on some lettuce, one carrot slice and a piece of broccoli which was probably the only fresh thing in the meal. I spit out the only piece I tried as did my friend. His chicken and peanuts was only slightly more edible. But it was over-spiced, lacked any flavor aside from red hot peppers and it too went in the trash. Even the rice was sticky and the fortune cookies stale. I have no idea how this place stays in business but they'll never get a dime out out me again! Yuk!
The linguica fried brown rice is our favorite along with the chicken chow mein! Whenever we visit the area, this is our go to take out!!
