Not a friendly entrance, when seated we were seated in a corner so it wasn’t as windy but was freezing, there was no heaters or perspex to try and keep the wind out and heat in, my grandparent is 85 and not saying places have to offer blankets but I know of places that do when you are sitting outside. There were left over cigarette ends left in an ash try on the table, the table wasn’t cleaned either. Had to order everything from inside, they don’t bother coming out unless it’s to take your food out/in. The waitress was so unfriendly when ordering food at the desk as well as having to repeat my order 3 times, it was 2 starters and 2 mains that were straight forward. The menu was so basic and simple. The mains were basically salads bar 2 burger options. The food was bland and boring, something you could make at your own home! The haggis for starters was very greasy, the chicken burger for mains didn’t have sauce in it, the bun just fell apart. The mushroom soup wasn’t something the brag about and the tuna toasty was just average. The icing on top of the cake was that they can’t fill up the dog bowls with water, as apparently they aren’t allowed to touch them? I just used water from my car as I never got shown an outside tap, felt like you had to do everything yourself bar make the food. Food was okay priced but just simple things like vinaigrette would have been nice on the salad. Wouldn’t rush back in a hurry, nicer places to try, was organically going to go to the cafe at Canada Woods but unfortunately it was closed for today.
Peaceful canal side spot with outdoor space for furry friends and play area for mini visitors. If outside can also pre-book PODS for warmth. Order and pay inside and excellent food is served with a smile. The owner truly goes the extra mile
Took my elderly parents here for lunch recently. We had a lovely time. The waitress was very welcoming and cheery, the soup and toasties were very tasty and packed with fillings, and it was all very reasonably priced. My parents enjoyed the country road drive and watching a couple of barges go by while the enjoyed lunch. We will most definitely return.
First time here booked a table for 12 lunch, no hello, seated waited 15 mins for any offer off drinks, got pot of tea, husband wanted a whisky but only Black label available, poor selection. Soup arrived at 12.20, I was still waiting for my main course and husbands second course at 12.55, focaccia arrived with minute steak which was like leather, no steak knife offered) was going to have a dessert but a party of 16 people came in and as only 2 waitresses for all the tables including the ones outside, decided not to bother! Paid for our meal, “ how was your meal?” No Thankyou , I explained that the minute steak was tough and she apologised. On the plus side good parking, nice surroundings and very clean, plenty of parking, first time there and don’t think I’d go back
Went for a light lunch on Sunday and ordered the leek and potato soup. I was very surprised to be served a bowl of several new potatoes, quartered, in stock with some leeks. This needed a knife and fork, very difficult in a bowl. I spent a couple of minutes crushing the potatoes with a fork after cutting them with a knife until it was suitable for eating with a spoon. The stock was surprisingly good but weird
