Kariju’s fried chicken is definitely the best fried chicken I ever had! It’s so crunchy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside! The ramen is also outstanding! Definitely give this place a five star review!
I forgot to take pics, but I ordered Donkatsu curry, Gyu Don, Katsu Don, and wings. Fried foods are good, but everything else is not that great. Rice was not Japanese rice (long grains instead of medium grains), and the curry was like liquid instead of creamy texture and tasted like nothing/water. Katsu Don was soooo salty that we could not finish half of it.I recommend only ordering fried chicken or wings or maybe just Katsu stuff without curry or eggs. But I won't be ordering from them anymore.
Thank you, for serving such delicious food! Every bite was a delightful experience, and I can't wait to visit again soon. Keep up the fantastic work!
I typically refrain from posting reviews unless a place a exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. In this case, it is closer to the latter.Store:It took a very long time for this store to open and even after it opened, it didn't have stable ownership/management. Ordering is a pain because you either have to be in store, or use the app/online (which charges a fee). When I called in to order, I was told to use the app.Food:I love fried chicken (in general) as much as everyone else, but this is not Japanese fried chicken. The closest thing to karaage is their nuggets, but isn't quite the same. The normal fried chicken is nothing close to Japanese fried chicken, and is pretty greasy. The sauce is a general sweet chili sauce, not the sauce typical for karaage. What's worse than this are the katsu dishes. I don't expect anything amazing, but I expect the basics to be done right. Of the half a dozen times I've gotten a some kind of katsu, the breading is always falling off, entire chunks of it. The times I've gotten katsu curry, the curry is always watery, and I mean full on water consistency. These are the bare minimum to get right, and I've ordered several times just to make sure I didn't get a one-off bad dish. My food rating is only a 2 because I enjoy Japanese food, and it tends to be rare in this area, especially at this price level.Price:The price is actually very reasonable. Perhaps the only redeeming thing here.Service:I have never dined in, but I've never had an issue with the staff I've come into contact with. Conclusion:When the advertisement for this store came, I was very excited. After months of opening, that excitement died down. After having no good experience with the food, I don't have expectations anymore, so I'm writing this to let people know, lest they get their hopes up. I suspect this place only has a 4.5 rating because people don't know what this Japanese fried chicken and katsu are supposed to be. I pretty much only come here when I crave Japanese food and don't have time, because it's very close to my house. That comes to about once every few months, and each time I hope that it'd be different.
