The atmosphere and decor are a bit more eclectic than your average pub, but not crazy urban cutting-edge. Food is very good with interesting selections (like the roasted shishito peppers with a limey flavor). Overall very comfortable yet not too mundane/predictable.
This is, I think, my third visit to this restaurant. I initially overlooked it due to its nondescript appearance in an old strip mall. However, when you get inside, it is really cute, with exposed brick walls and pictures and posters of blues musicians, which I love, being a blues musician myself. It draws a pretty young crowd and can be loud. If you like a hushed, clubby vibe, this isn’t the place for you. We enjoyed the energy ourselves, though it is a loud place. Food and service were great! They had a nice Verdejo on the menu, something you don’t see to often. We started with the perogis, I was excited because they had sold out on our previous visits. The were delicious, with grilled onions. I had the steak frites; I don’t eat a lot of meat but as an occasional treat, I do! The steak, with a delicious chimmichurri sauce, was perfectly medium rare and tasty. The fries were also good, though they were not shoestring fries as the menu were medicated, just regular old fries. They were good but I think shoestrings would have been better. My companion has the roast chicken, which she really liked. For dessert, we spilt the berry cobbler, it was very good. Service was also very good, all youngish servers who seemed on top of things and did a good job. Overall a great experience and will definitely return.
My husband is picky, and he very much enjoyed Fork Fire! He is a music lover, and was impressed by the catalog of tunes being played! Not to mention the selection of brews! Of course, he said his burger was VERY good, and my roasted chicken was OUTSTANDING! Who knew chicken could be that good?! Our waiter was the best, and really knew his restaurant, and what his customers wanted. His cocktail, dinner dessert suggestions were spot on. We will be back for sure.
Like what they have done with the space. A little loud even without it being a full house. Major disappointment was the too-similar menu from our last visit 4 months ago. A place can claim to buy their produce locally—which is great—but if you are, then your offerings on the menu theoretically should change as well as you produce plates featuring what is “fresh” per season.
Bummed trivia got moved to Tuesday nights from Thursdays. HillStead drinks were inconsistent last night 3 different bartenders and they tasted 3 different ways for what is usually a very easy drink to anticipate each time. Otherwise, a great night as usual!
