As much as I wanted it to be authentic, nothing about it taste that way. I asked for a beef patty and coco bread and they had no idea what I was talking about. EVERY authentic Jamaican spot knows what coco bread is! Usually Jamaican food comes with a few plantains but never have I had them in a meal from here. I had no idea they even sold them until I heard someone ask if they had them. The food isn 't horrible but it 's just not the real deal! In addition, this place opens too late and closes too early. They say they open at noon but I have called a few times after that and the phone would just ring. Which leads to the biggest gripe I have...this place is never ever open! The schedule is super inconsistent! I don 't understand how a business expects customers to come back when they are unexpectantly closing every other week. The food is just okay and nothing worth the hassle of chasing them down to take my money. Overall: Drive a little further to Detroit and get the real thing!
I would give it another try, I just wasn't impressed. My jerk chicken was soupy, and the flavor was just okay. The inside was really clean and the hostess was really polite. The food was just underwhelming because I really wanted it to be GREAT
Having lived in the Caribbean I was extremely excited to try the Ox Tail and Rasta Pasta.. Hours stated on Website for Saturday’s so drove out 35 minutes. 2 hours after they opened only 2 lights were on and they were closed. Called to see if it was deceptive but no one answered. Looked inside and nobody was there. Word to owners, this is a recipe for disaster if you state that you are open but no one shows up for work. Thank God a slider place was open in strip mall.
This felt to me like a Carribean african American fusion. J chicken sauce had that signature American sweetness and they serve corn bread side and not the signature plantain. Not a fan of the sweet j chicken in general but the food was enjoyable. The oxtail was delicious.
This is an amazing spot for Jamaican food and the service makes it even better! We had the ox tail and chicken wings, which are some of the juiciest and best cooked pieces of meat I've ever had, as well as the plantains and shrimp rasta pasta. Everything was hot, fresh, and super tasty! Ox tail fell right off the bone as it should and we had an incredible meal here, will definitely be back soon!
