The food and service were first class. Alll the vegetation etc is cooked fresh for each service nothing is saved and warmed up. The pricing was good as well. Even with 3 large glasses of wine and desert the bill for the two of us was under £50. We would reccommend this place to anyone . Congratulations to the owners.
Well where do I start,we have been on many occasions for a Sunday roast ,today was the worst ever .when my dad booked table for 3 said got 1 vegetarian, the lady said wats available chose mushroom Wellington. When arrived ticked off the vegetables and meat ,waited for meals 1 plate with just vegetables no mushroom Wellington.the lady said we get the chef to do now , never got the mushroom Wellington , then on all plates 1 roast potato ,Brussels hard ,gravy already on plate could hardly see gravy on plate asked for more never got . 1 plate no cabbage was ticked on sheet ,2nd plate no parsnips to top it all no mushroom Wellington which they said get shef to cook , never known anything like this before did get a discount 1 meal free .this is not the point thought I take my dad out with friend and me as father's day .very disappointed
The Carvery is always very good here, good staff and value for money. Very popular Sunday roast pub.We travel 60 miles to it.
I haven't visited Wheel in a while, but I will definitely return. Overall, I had mixed feelings about the waitress who served us - the portions of meat were not very generous and we had to ask for sauces and drinks ourselves. We were also directed to go to the bar to get our drinks. Despite these issues, the food was tasty.
This restaurant is top-notch in its category. It doesn't try to be a fancy gastropub, but rather serves large portions of simple and tasty Sunday lunch dishes quickly and fresh. The pricing is fair, especially considering that many places now charge £16 for lunch. Reservations are necessary due to its popularity. If I had to nitpick, I would have preferred more crackling with my pork and the beef cooked rare. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
