This cafe was one of the busiest but we got a table very quickly. <br/ <br/ We ordered 2 coffees, smoked salmon (poached eggs with avo, tomatoes and salmon) and chilli egg (chilli scrambled eggs with ham and chorizo). <br/ <br/ I really liked the chilli egg, the chilli powder gave a little bit of kick and the chorizo and ham gave the dish so much flavours. Mum preferred the eggs to be quite cooked, but the scramble was still fluffy and creamy. The smoked salmon was yummy too with a generous portion of avocado.
Perfect spot for brunch followed by the beach. The cafe is open and airy with both indoor and outdoor tables. We got fresh juices, chilli scrambled egg on sourdough, Thai style calamari salad and hot cakes. The hot cakes is beautiful and big enough to feed 2-3 people! We enjoyed everything and would visit again!
We visited on a weekday the place was busy, but we were seated quite promptly.<br/ <br/ They offer seating both indoors and outdoors, which is a great option to have. <br/ <br/ We ordered the Hotcake, Trio of Eggs Benedict and Pea Smash. Everything was delicious! The hotcake tasted like an actual cake so fluffy and yummy! The trio of eggs Benedict had one of the best hollandaise sauces we’ve had in a while! As for the pea smash, this was actually incredible! <br/ <br/ The coffee and shakes here are also delicious! <br/ <br/ We wish we lived much closer, because this place would certainly be our regular! In saying that, it’s definitely worth the travel!
Great place to sit and chill, get some work done on the laptop without pressure and enjoy a coffee smoothie bowl. Everyone knows I'm a waffles man, so absolutely surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the hotcakes! Slathering the still steaming treat with liquid sugar, I gingerly cut off a bite and lifted it towards my mouth. Pure bliss. The first flavor to unfold on my tongue was the sweetness of the syrup, quickly followed by the delicate, buttery flavor of the pancake itself. The coolness of the syrup and heat of the pancake complemented one another perfectly and only served to bring out the subtle flavor of the pancake itself. Bursts of flavour from the berry compote and fresh fruit tantalising the taste buds with each bite!
Despite the modern look, there’s a relaxed, beachside charm about Little Collins that makes it amenable to brunch before hitting nearby Freshwater Beach. The beach is said to be the home of Australian surfing, because back in 1914, it was where Duke Kahanamoku first demonstrated the Hawaiian surfing technique on a board made from Australian timber. Friendly staff offer up directions to the beach and menu recommendations with ease, meaning we’re soon ensconced with summery fresh juices, enjoying the gentle breeze. I opt for the Immune Booster $7/regular) teaming carrot and orange with the subtle suggestion of ginger. My dining companion opts for the watermelon-heavy Fruity $7/regular) blend with apple, orange and pineapple that just wants for a bit of chilling. Exposed to the street on two sides, the café has clean, modern lines. Bare bones wooden lampshades and black wire chairs are stylish, without being overdone. A large glass bowl of white lilies adorns a central communal table, though most diners opt to sit in the fringing ring of smaller tables. Like the décor, the menu is modern without being ostentatious; and the ubiquitous smashed avocado is nowhere to be seen. In its place, Smashed Peas $15.50) will happily address any urge for something green. The good green ship sails onto...
