Coffee by di Lorenzo, to start with. If you are coffee drinker, you will know they are selling good coffee beans. Start with piccolo for me, just to waken my palate and ready for breakfast. Feeling a little bit cheeky, Ordering yuzu flavour French toast, because I just don’t feel like Nutella at that moment. Served with fresh fruits and ice cream. Also Orange pancakes stack, found banana slices in between pancakes, served also with fresh fruits and also ice cream Sunshine Smoothie was great too, however all the combo like mango, banana, orange juice, pineapple and yoghurt just a little too heavy after
With a current world understanding of the impact of meat production on global warming, it’s no surprise to see plant based cafes popping up around Sydney. Although we’re not Vegans or Vegetarians, we do enjoy having days without and appreciate a plant based diet. When we heard about ‘The Font Café’ in Chippendale, we were keen to check it out. We went early on a chilly Saturday morning and got a seat with no trouble. Natural light and decorated with potted plants and it is a cosy little space. Staff are warm and welcoming and offer us a drink as we peruse the menu. The food is certainly instagrammable, but it’s more than that – it is damn tasty food too. Their all day menu is Vegetarian but also has Vegan options and they can adjust meals for those with allergies. Beginning with a few brekkie favourites, there’s the crowd favourite, an acai bowl as well as granola. The granola was home-made and nice and flavoursome and served with a really nice yoghurt, seasonal fruit and coconut chips. We both thought this was a quality version of a granola. The Font Café offers a Veggie Big Brekkie (with soy bacon), egg Florentine served in a croissant and avo bruschetta. However it’s their creative dishes that really stand out. They have a vege soy duck sandwich, messy enoki mushroom dish and even a vege soy laksa. It’s great to see the vibrancy of the dishes on offer and the plant based meals are certainly quality. We liked the ‘Hu-Tong’s noodle’ (Vegan and gluten free), a Beijing style soy bean paste noodle, cucumber, bean sprouts and corn. From the sweets options, they have orange/lemon pancakes but we ended with their signature dish, the ‘Wiggly Puff’ – the famous soufflé pancake. Now we’re a big fan of soufflé pancakes and this one hits the mark and is one of the best we’ve had. Light and fluffy, served original, strawberry or with cookies and cream. We went for the latter option, topped with a creamy sauce, served with chocolate ice cream and cookie crumbs. Get in early and order this upfront as it’s a 20 minute preparation, but it is absolutely worth the wait. Note they only serve these between 9am and 11 am or 1:30-3pm to due to time constraints. The drink menu has the typical milk based coffees, black coffee, organic teas, as well as a few special drinks. We enjoyed an original latte as well as a red velvet latte, which was thoroughly enjoyable. There’s a couple of smoothies too, and we recommend the ‘Super Green Detox’ for a health kick. It is made with pineapple, banana, celery, cucumber, spinach, ginger and water and it is super refreshing. If you head to the café, tag them on insta to get a free coffee. We thoroughly recommend a visit to The Font Cafe and hope you like it as much as us
A beautifully fitted out modern cafe offering a large range of menu options, specialising in vegetarian and plant based dishes. The dishes are bursting with flavour and you can tell the ingredients and produce they use are fresh, it's definitely reflected in the dishes. They offer sweet and savoury, you'll be guaranteed to find something you like. The plant based meat alternatives were surprisingly tasty, and knowing they are wholesome and more beneficial for you is an added bonus. Definitely recommend checking this place out when visiting Sydney.
Love the cute venue, which is light, green and pink The staff are auper friensly and pelasant making sure everyone is being looked after. The food is very nice, the vegan options are very good. I liked the Round and round the garden dish which came with quinoa, kale, grilled cauliflower and capsicum. A very fresh dish to enjoy on a hot day with an iced beverage. I enjoyed the Red velvet iced latte with my meal, along with the pan-a-fresh, a vanilla Pannacotta topped with strawberry sauce, atop a bed of granola and fresh berries. A sweet dish to end my healthy eating. I really loved the suace on top of the pannacotta, it gave it a sweet taste. Overall an enjoyable visit, I've been told the laksa is delicious so I may have to return for lunch!
