I’ve been going to Twist for longer than I remember. While it’s not always on my daily traverse, I make a b-line there, whenever I think of it, or have half a chance. It’s a civilised, sophisticated oasis in the bogan heart of Dee Why. Take today, for example. Lunch in the sunny courtyard. Comfortable chairs. The right height relationship to the clean tables. Efficient service, with friendly, genuine smiles. (Personally, I melt with every smile from Yvette, but that’s off-topic. You have to have the opulently-filled, dill-infused chicken breast sanga on artisan bread, with avo, fresh cos. Sumptuous satisfying. You have to have the moist-as housemade yogurt cake. You have to have the exemplary coffee. You’ll walk away happy. Your tummy will thank you. Your soul will thank you. And you can always pop back for a sly, classy drink, later in the day. And toons.
