We had a pot of the house blend tea which was delicious and our menu choices were both lunch specials – butternut soup with cheese scones on the side and the Saturday sandwich [toasted bacon, tomato and cheese] with small side salad. Service was friendly and not rushed. We had the church pew seating which added novelty to an idiosyncratic tea themed décor. We plan to return even if only for a pot of tea. This time we will use the timers which escaped our notice until after our cups had been poured.
I have been to Bentley's twice now. I was so impressed the first time I made it a point to go back when I was in the area. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide selection of loose leaf teas, but the food is why I got back, it is awesome--all homemade. The carrot cake is an absolute must. If you're looking for a great place to have lunch, this is it.
A very warm, serene atmosphere welcomes you as soon as you walk in. We were invited to choose our beverage from a large selection of fine loose tea that were on display in multiple large jars along a wall. There were so many to choose from but we each finally made our choice which within a few minutes was served to us piping hot in our own individual fancy tea pot. On our table we had brewing timers that the kids enjoyed using to get a perfect pot of brewed tea. Our soup was full of flavour and just the right amount to go with the plate of delicious assorted tea sized sandwiches. As we ate we felt very relaxed and at home while tranquil music played in the background.
Had a lovely visit here for afternoon tea with my daughter, it was a pleasant treat ! Staff was so friendly and we loved how you can pick out which tea you would like from the huge selection. Lunch arrived and it was delicious a choice of small sandwiches, little savouries, mixed cakes and the scones, yes the scones with jam and cream were to die for ! I did see they had gluten free scones. The menu showed they had a daily specials it was quiche the day we went. I would highly recommend it !
We love this place, visiting often over the years with friends, family, visitors or just on our own. Scones are terrific, real Devon cream, excellent home made blueberry jam, delicious soups and bread, amazing sweets -all fresh and home made. We have experienced tea rooms all over Canada and Britain and rate this #1 of all that we have visited. Prices are very fair making this a great value. They have a huge selection of teas to take home or that can be ordered on-line for shipping to your home. They are very friendly and attentive. If you are anywhere in the area it is well worth stopping in (no coffee!).
