I absolutely love Sonic, especially their Foot Long Hot Dogs! The only downside is that I have to drive over an hour to get them, which means I can only visit a few times a year when I'm on Whidbey Island. Here’s an idea: how about opening a Sonic on the Navy Base here? You would get a lot of customers! When I was in Missouri, we had a Sonic nearby and we went there often. I also really adore the Cherry Limeade. Overall, I'm a big fan!
Great food. I love her chocolate chip Keksteig with cherries and a shot of chocolate in my delicious shake!! Best Corndogs
OK for a throwback concept. My wife and I had to brave going below the border into Police State USA so we could complete some paperwork to finish the extrication of our greenbacks from the Too Big To Fail bank . Too bad that American authorities don't spend as much time cracking down on Wall Street criminals as they do on common citizens, but that's another rant. When we were finished freeing our funds, we walked out of the bank and saw Sonic across the parking lot. For nostalgia's sake, we walked past it just so we could get in the Pruis and drive up for the carhop experience. More than a decade together, and us both being children of the 1960s, and we've never done a drive in together.<br/ <br/ Sonic's not bad. It isn't McD's. My bacon cheeseburger toaster was your basic cheeseburger with bacon, white bread variant. The lettuce/tomato/pickle overwhelmed the flavour of the quarter pound burger, and the most memorable thing about it was the texture of the bacon between my teeth. My wife's cheeseburger was similarly bland. Fries were thicker than McDonalds' or Burger King's, not crisp enough for my liking. Chocolate malted had a mildly malty taste, too thick for the straw, and I'm not sure how much actual ice cream was in it.<br/ <br/ All that said, I still like Sonic. My wife, who's West Coast (I'm East) says it was better in the old days. But Sonic does a great job with the drive in vibe, the push button ordering system, the carhops who bring food on trays that attach to your car window... They were super fast, too less than five minutes from order to eat er. We don't go to places like Sonic for fine dining we hit The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive at dinner for that but as a throwback to America during the good ol' muscle car heyday, Sonic is a lively legacy.
