What a wonderful location in Fes. Close the door and you are in an other world after all the exciting time in the souks. Of course food is good, maybe a little bit overpriced, but all that will be compensated by the very beautiful garden and the great service. Room number 12 is great!
Palais Amani is beyond lovely! The property is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable. The staff is kind, helpful and extremely accommodating. Our only complaint our dinner was very mediocre and the most expensive of our time in Morocco. The breakfast is wonderful and the mint tea (made by Bo Mohammed! is the best! But I would eat dinner elsewhere.
Treat yourself to an extraordinary stay. We spent the first night in a room on the ground floor. This was a bad match for us because I had an unrelenting headache from dust in the Sahara and needed something that approximated silence. You cannot have that on the first floor. For the most part nobody really wants that, you’ve come to a city, not a morgue. So unless you are a honeymooner or have a headache these rooms will be lively but private and lovely. We moved to one of the apartments. If you can swing it I highly recommend this ours had a private patio with a round pergola where I sat at dawn and heard the Medina wake up while I watched the sun rise. It is an experience I will never forget. The staff who could be mistaken for owners they care so much were very attentive without being overbearing. Everyone greets you without intruding on your vacation. The food was fantastic, but, like everywhere in Morocco, there was so much of it. I wanted to grab just a slice of toast before yoga and needed up with a table full of jams and jellies. They do not know how to do anything other than lavish luxury for their guests and that suits me well. I had lost my converter they had one for me. I tried to carry a piece of my own luggage not happening. Upon checkout the bellman walked through the apartment to be sure that I hadn’t left anything behind (I had). Our rooms were immaculate and I’m here to tell you that I notice every crevice and corner. I did not make use of the Hamman because I wasn’t 100% sure that my headache wasn’t part of some other illness. Even though it was the right thing to do, it stinks. Everyone was raving about it I suppose the only reasonable way to correct this is with a return trip. It is a truly special space and the definition of hospitality. I cannot recommend it enough
