The Ruined Garden - Fes

The food is okay, 4 times more expensive than other restaurants, but the environment is in a very nice location. Traditional soups are vegan and of course the classic tajin is veganisable, not worth the price, but the best place to cool out. Design over food.

This was a beautiful place, definitely a visit for the quiet garden. I had lunch and it was nice, especially the cold cucumber tomatoes onion salad. I also ordered the soup (Harira, but I'm afraid it might have butter in it (smen? . Not sure, but I tried to avoid it. Nice service. Nothing amazing, but the cold salad was refreshing on a hot day. You can look at these 3.5 stars

Serves meat, Vegan options-vegetable tagine, a variety of Moroccan salads-tomato, eggplant, potato. (think, no lettuce). Bread with oil and spices that you get while you are waiting, juices, tea, sodas etc. Staff is friendly and helpful. English speaking if that’s important to you. Very nice garden setting with plenty of seating.

I wish the menu had clearer labeling for vegetarian and vegan choices, but the staff were friendly and assisted me when I mentioned I was vegan. I tried the Harira soup and vegetable tagine one day, and returned the next day for the amazing white bean stew. The highlights were the delicious warm bread with spices and fresh orange juice. The surroundings were also beautiful, with lots of fruit trees and many friendly cats around.
