We had heard about Fields Station through popular YouTubers and wanted to try their infamous shakes! Be warned, this place gets VERY busy on the weekends! Although we waited an hour for one shake, it was worth it! So, if you have a little extra time on your hands and don't mind the long line, go for it. There's plenty of time to spark up a conversation with other fellow campers (like we did)! You'll never know who'll you'll meet. Staff are really friendly, despite the hustle and bustle. Fields Station is an epic gateway to the Steen Mountains and Alvord Desert landscape.
After all the reviews regarding their famous milk shakes, I must say I wasn 't impressed. Not only did it take longer to make than the burger I ordered and finished, but the shake (had ordered a malt) was just average. The burger was also nothing to get excited about. I think for me what made the shake taste average was the use of soft serve ice cream rather than hand scooped ice cream. I get better tasting shakes/malts at 31 Flavors (Baskin Robin). So I guess this place does ok is it 's out in the middle of no where with the closest competition being 100 miles away. Trust...
We stopped in here after soaking in the Alvorde Hot Springs just down the road. We were greeted with warm, smiling faces and the delicious smells of bacon and fresh coffee. We both ordered Cory 's with Bacon, and it came out hot and crispy with perfectly cooked over medium eggs. The coffee was nice and hot. The menu is on the smaller side but what they make, they make well. We will definitely stop here again, next time we are traveling by. Indoor seating is limited to 2 tables and a bartop, but there was no wait. They do have an outdoor patio if weather permits. Plenty of parking available. The restrooms are rest stop vault toilets (out at the road). They were clean, but be sure you have TP just in case.
If nothing else, stop for a milkshake. Hands down the best one I’ve ever had! Service: 5
All I can say is this place is a life saver when your running out of fuel and there is no other places for fuel readily available. Good eats and friendly staff.
