Lunch was very disappointed today at the start of the arts festival. Have been many times before and lady year during the festival and have always enjoyed the food/drinks but today the ready made rolls were horrible. Cheap egg mayonnaise filling from a catering tub and poor quality breakfast tea. Tables weren’t cleared so wasps were having a field day.
The best coffee we found in the area. Superb flapjack (other cakes look gorgeous too). Friendly service.
Went in to the funky Scottish cafe with the family for lunch today. The four of us sat down and chatted amongst ourselves for some time. There were a couple of people sitting at a neighbouring table working on a lap top. There were no menus on the tables or any clues about what food was available. No-one came to greet us, serve us or help us in any way so we decided to leave. Even as we got our coats on, nothing was said. As we left my husband asked the girls at the table whether there was anyone serving, to which she replied that it was counter service..... up until that point I'd thought they were customers! With 3 cafes to choose from in pittenweem main street, this standard of customer service is a recipe for bankruptcy.
We stopped in for coffee and cake and were delighted with what we ordered. In addition, there are unique handmade crafts and merchandise available for purchase. The hand-painted plates are colorful and beautiful.
