Only locals great food cheap authentic fast google translate saved us best experience of the day
Been over a year since we last popped in here and little has changed. Quite a crowd mainly locals leading to an overspill to the large dinning room upstairs. Service was attentive and friendly with enough English to take us through the simple menu. Pal with olives, Cal do verde soup, Half BBQ chicken, oven roasted veal all with salad and copious chips, desert, carafe of house red, Fanta, coffee and brandy came to €15.5 Superb value and quality.
Traditional restaurant in the old city. Probably the cheapest in town, 5 to 6 euros all included. But do not expect a steady quality; some dishes are fine, some are dissapointing.
From my first visit over 20 years ago to my most recent visit this restaurant/ canteen provides stunning value for money. Obviously the foot traffic, over the years, has moved from the port side of town to the more main stream sea front but this place remains as one of the authentic Portuguese local eating places providing amazing simple local dishes at stunning value for money. It remains on my ' must visit ' eateries in Figueira da Foz. I am so amazed that such an old style local remains in business...give it a visit and respect the simple great value dishes roughly €7 for three course lunch wine. I still recall the gentle arguement I had with a local pensioner, eating his lunch at the next table, who tried to insist I drink the free carafe of local wine with my lunch and despite me pointing out I was driving to Porto immediately afterwards...he explained dying of bad health brought on by not taking advantage of the health properties of the local wine was a higher risk than a car crash!!???
