Temporarily Closed 6/2023. No idea why or if they will return. Sad. Maybe Covid killed
The scallop dinner had 3 scallops very tasty but very limited more of a lunch than dinner. The T bone was very good cooked to perfection. Realizing it's a new business they are still figuring out how much food to stock they had no baked potatoes or Cesar salad left with limited dressing selection. Overall we look forward to returning soon to see if the hiccups are improving. The staff were pleasant and attentive.
If you know me, you know I know supper clubs. I have been to the Greenwood a couple of times over the past 20 years. I would have gone more but it's hard to find it open. I only give it two stars because the resturant staff was very nice and the food was decent. What is sad is this place has such great potential. It has a great history. The grounds are beautiful. Good location. A good size dining room. A big bar and the food I had was good. So you ask yourself then what's wrong? Well it's hard to put my finger on it but I don't think it's just one thing. I think it's lots of little things. First the bar. Large but cluttered and dated. Get rid of the video poker machines and the ugly wallpaper and ugly light shades. Replace the smelly carpet with an easy to clean hard surface. Don't have bartenders that eat the customers food. With all the staffing problems they have had the last couple years their must be an internal issue. They need to fix that and set their hours and stick to them. If you are short on staff that you can't seat all the tables, then take some of the tables out and give people more space. I don't want you to tell me there's a half hour wait when there's 9 open tables. I felt like you just wanted me to go to the bar and buy a drink. Don't be cheap and try to get every cent from the customers you have. $19 for a white fish fish fry that is one piece of fish is too much. The soup was extra. The fish was cooked right but take the skin off next time. The clam chowder was good but too thick and gloopy. Thin it out with some stock and add more clams. And the no refills on soda. Come on. That's like 25 cents of product. And get a website already. Lots of little things add up.
Oh boy. Where to start. Tonight was our first visit to Greenwood Supper Club. Growing up in Door County, I 'd heard of it my whole life and my husband and I decided it was time to check it out. WE WILL NEVER RETURN. My husband ordered a 1/2 lb angus cheeseburger and when it arrived, it was as thick as a MacDonald 's hamburger. No lettuce, tomato, onion, or any other garnish. He sent it back. I wanted a lite meal so I ordered a cup of soup and salad. Turkey noodle was tasteless and the dinner salad was iceberg lettuce and a couple of slices of cucumber. Certainly not worth the $9.95 they charged me for a large salad! Do yourself a favor: find another restaurant in Door County to eat at. You 'll thank me.
