First thing we tried was their ranch and barbeque sauce. Both were so damn good I ordered a plate of fries even though my meal came with some already because I couldn't risk having this ranch without potato. It was so fresh with the perfect consistency. The barbeque sauce had a great smoky flavor and richness. Onto the food. I ordered the open faced pupusa and subbed the filling with all veggies. The pupusa was a bit thick and different than the traditional ones I'm used to but an interesting and delicious take nonetheless. My friends ordered a guacamole burger, fish and chips, and eggs Benedict. All were piping hot and delicious. The one person who made it so great was our server Betty. Right away she made us feel welcome and was so accommodating to us throughout the night. If I'm ever in flagstaff again I will definitely come back!
Ive been here quite a few times and its always been the same feel. It feels like my concerned Aunty or Grandmother serving me, seeing if i'm doing well and just heavily nurturing me overall. Its actually good home like feel thats like home away from home. Im always greeted like I'm a regular even if its a host/server I've never seen before and it feels very welcoming. Drinks are always brought promptly and the atmosphere is quite nice especially after the recent remodel. The food is pleasant and hot which isn't always the case for breakfast places. To play devils advocate it is really is hard to mess up breakfast food so as long as i have no complaints about it thats good. All in all this place is really high up there for breakfast places in flagstaff but where they really shine is their atmosphere. 5/5
Mhm... overall we liked this place but this was kind of a weird experience. As we arrived we were greeted by a server, and she was ready to seat us at a table and when asked if we could wait for a booth to be cleared. She acknowledged our request very politely, then turned around and slammed the menus back in place. Given that we chose a different table, someone else was our server... and the service was OK and the food was good too, but hubby got the wrong side, and then she did something I thing is not right... (although many places do it)... she took his plate back to get the right side he had ordered. I have a strong opinion about that... what I read is: So, someone made a mistake, I bring it to your attention and the prize I get is for you to take my food away while everyone else gets to start enjoying their food . Granted, she brought it back shortly after... but then I wonder... did they recycle that food? I hope not... probably not. But had they left the food there and brought the correct item I would not have to wonder... right? Oh well. I had the steak and eggs and the steak was surprisingly tender for a diner sirloin. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and it was very good too (I tried it). Oh, lastly, we had a restaurant.com gift certificate and it took a while to get the payment sorted out. Also, the register is by the door, and when there is a line it gets kind of crowded and awkward.
After finishing a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon, I stopped in for breakfast at the Country Host Restaurant. The layout is a very traditional diner, with booth seating, table seating and bar seating. The interior was clean and organized. I was promptly greeted and seated by the waitress/hostess. She had a mug of hot coffee in front of me within seconds. The breakfast menu is fairly standard and priced reasonably. My breakfast was served quickly and was hot and tasty. The waitress/hostess even provided me a to-go coffee at the end of my meal without me asking, which I really appreciated. If you are looking for a traditional diner meal and friendly service, the Country House Restaurant will definitely fit the bill. Recommended.
Eh. Need to update here. The staff is still super friendly, but the breakfast quality wasn't as good. Country Potatoes had no seasoning whatsoever and everything tasted like butter flavored non-stick cooking spray. Awesome place for a really tasty diner breakfast. The service staff are friendly and patient. We came with two kids and a baby. They were also flexible with menu options. It's also right along the freeway so if your traveling through Flag, but don't want the hassle of finding a place in town, this works perfectly. I would definitely recommend.
