The two Caprese salads we ordered were also incorrect, as they didn't have buffalo mozzarella. When we finally got up to pay for our drinks, the chef tried to apologize. He handed us our pizzas, but when we got home, we discovered that they were the wrong order. We won't be returning.
Having moved South from Southern NJ 6 years ago my family is always searching for foods we have been accustomed to our whole life. Having lived just 10 minutes from Philly we were spoiled with REAL Philly Cheesesteaks and Pizza. Finding both in theSouth has been a venture. Recently we visited Rebel Pie in Florence at the advice of a friend and to say we got our fix is anunderstatement. The smell of wood burning can be detected as soon as you exit your vehicle from the Pizza ovens. We entered andgreeted by a very nice young lady who we found out was from Maryland. She would also be our waitress and she was great. Weordered the fired shrimp with bacon and blue cheese and they were delicious. For our pie choices we ordered a Margherita Pizzafor our 12 yr old daughter and we created a favorite choice from Michaelangelo 's in Philly...The basic pie with prosciutto(which is unheard of in most pizza shops in the South), spinach and basil. The pizza arrived and we were in heaven. Thin crustwith slightly browned and crisp edges (it could have been a little more done on the bottom, but it did not take away from theflavor). We devoured both pies and were completely satisfied. Not to take away from Rebel Pie because they had some interestingsounding desserts, but there was a Rita 's Italian Water Ice stand a few stores down and we had not had one of them in 6 yearsalso. We will be making Rebel Pie a regular stop when we visit Florence and don 't forget to properly tip your server.
This place is definitely underrated. We stopped there for dinner last night on our way to the Casting Crowns concert. We started with the Woodford jumbo shrimp topped with blue cheese and bacon, and it was the best dish I've had in a long time. You have to try it; I can’t wait to go back for more. Then we ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, which was a genuine New York-style pizza and absolutely delicious. Lastly, we tried the pecan Danish pizza, and oh my gosh, it was simply AMAZING! If you’re ever in Florence, SC, make sure to stop by and show them some love!
This was the worst pizza I've ever had! Baking in an 800-degree oven shouldn't yield dough that’s gluey. The bottom crust was undercooked, and the dough underneath the toppings was raw and excessively wet. Instead of being light and fluffy, it was dense and heavy. This clearly comes from using packaged dough that was overproofed and mishandled. There's no way to achieve this poor quality pizza in a proper wood-fired oven. To make matters worse, when I brought my concerns to the staff, they didn't offer any solutions. In the end, I felt like I wasted $75—way too much for such low-quality pizza. I'll definitely never come back. By the way, I gave one star because I couldn't give zero. Save your money and your time!
The pizza was absolutely delicious, and I definitely plan to return. While the pizza itself was fantastic, I was even more impressed by the outstanding service. The staff was very friendly. A gentleman kindly sliced my pizza when I arrived, and he was so warm and pleasant. Our interaction was brief, but the friendliness really stood out to me. With great pizza and even better service, this is now my go-to pizza spot.
