I ordered the special today that is the peanut soup and fufu among other items today over the phone and was not aware that a soup dish came with meat in it. I picked up my order and was not happy and asked the manager if he was willing to make a accommodation. He proceeded to have a attitude with me and told me what do I want him to do. I asked if there is a way that I could get this soup without meat and he said that the soup always comes with meat which I was not aware until now about this which I let him know . I asked could I get something else that is the equivalent of the price of the soup since I have fufu and nothing to eat with it and he told me all he is willing to do is give me a refund and that he doesn’t even have to do that because it’s his business and it’s a courtesy. There is a sign with the special on it that is in the far corner written with the food items where if your walking in and go to the bar to order isn’t easily accessible to find. I always try to go out of my way to support black owned businesses but I can’t justify supporting a restaurant that not only has overpriced food but a manager who is rude to customers just because they can be.
The manager was rude and not very helpful.Being my first time there. I ordered the egusi soup with beef.It wasn’t any juice for it to be soup. And if you want juice it’s 5 more dollars which is crazy. I will try African food again just not there.Don’t recommend here .Don’t get your money’s worth. And it took 30 minutes to order because he kept walking away. And the shrimp was 8 dollars to be fried in shell and put in a small sauce container. The prices don’t match the portions. I wish you well , but no thanks will never go back .Will try another place and hope I have a better experience.Ps this wasn’t a hate comment, I don’t hate anyone. This was my review for my experience and it shouldn’t matter how much you spend it’s still a customer. And the response was also unprofessional instead of taking it as constructive criticism. You chose to take it as a attack.
I have been to the African Palace several times with my family and friends. The food is always amazing. The fish, jollof rice, egusi, the chicken curry and asun (very spicy goat pepper soup) are all DELICIOUS and SO TASTY!!! The flavors on each dish are FANTASTIC!!! The asun is a WONDERFUL SPICY dish!!! The curry is a PERFECT blend of spices. My only complaint is that there is not a location in the St. Charles County region. If you are wanting something unique and ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS food then go to Africa Palace. Your taste buds will not be disappointed.
Hands down some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!! Will definitely be returning soon!! The Bryant’s
