In contrast, Congee Village in Flushing, the sister restaurant to its two locations in Chinatown, Manhattan, is now considered one of the older spots and doesn't attract the same crowds. For that, we can be grateful. The restaurant has plenty of seating, allowing for immediate table availability, and consistently serves excellent traditional Cantonese dishes. Some standout dishes from our meal included the Peking-style pork chops, shiitake mushroom e-fu noodles, and pan-fried bean curd with soy sauce. A helpful tip I received from an aunt is to tip the waitstaff in cash when you place your order for exceptional service (something I should definitely do more often). She followed this advice, and as a result, we were treated to complimentary leftover dim sum—fried glutinous rice dumplings and char siu puff pastry—from the brunch service, which were still delicious. I highly recommend Congee Village to avoid the long lines.
This is a fantastic spot to visit on a Saturday morning. There was no crowd when we arrived at 11 am. The food was fresh, and the portions were generous. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality makes it worth it. Be aware of the enthusiastic dim sum servers who might try to entice you with more food—don't hesitate to decline if you're not interested. Overall, the place was clean and well-maintained.
Definitely go with a very large group to eat family style! Fantastic service. I used to live in Taiwan and Singapore as a kid and this experience was so nostalgic. Its hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, and vegetarians need not be intimidated-there's plenty of veggie options for you. Overall, the atmosphere is amazing- and the price is incredibly affordable when youhave 10+ people in your party
For those complaining about the congee being served in quart containers—most places serve congee this way! Keep in mind that Uber Eats and DoorDash take a large cut from the restaurants, yet they still fill their congee containers to the brim. I hope this place stays in business; it might be one of the last Cantonese congee restaurants left in Flushing!
This restaurant is a classic Cantonese spot. We ordered steamed fish and vegetables, which came with complementary seasonal soup, Dan Ted, and Tong Sui. Everything was delicious, but the complimentary Dan Ted was the best I've ever had. It was fantastic! The inside was fluffy, and the outside had layers of crispy butter. I definitely need to ask if I can buy some to take home because it was just that good!
