The Clifton - Folkestone

The afternoon was excellent. The food was extremely fresh and the prices were very competitive.

When our afternoon tea arrived, it did not include the simple scones that I had requested. I brought this to the attention of the staff, who apologized and explained that they had gone to a sister hotel to retrieve them. However, during our time there, no one came by to offer us drinks or check on us. When it came time to pay, I noticed that we had been charged £17.95 for one set and £10 for the other, which was supposedly a discount. But upon closer inspection, I realized that we were only given a £2 discount, not the £7.95 as was initially indicated on the bill. Overall, the service was disorganized and lacking in communication. I had previously had a good experience at this restaurant, but based on this visit, I would not recommend it to others in the future.

We had a very special family celebration and everyone enjoyed our experience. The restaurant had plenty of natural light and there was ample space between tables. The afternoon tea for five was delicious and more than we could finish. My older daughter was especially delighted when the sandwiches were cut into fingers, as it reminded her of being at a childhood party while still feeling like an adult. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and we were even offered a container to take home the leftover cakes. We all agreed that we would definitely return. Overall, well done to everyone at the Clifton Hotel in Folkestone.

We were really looking forward to this....but was a very dissapointing experience no hallo or welcome from the staff. only a selection of tea and coffee. we expect a selection of different tees. no explanation for the sandwiches or cakes that appeared. in the did not interact with the personal aside from when we returned the coffee .where we had to explain why twice. cold tea and no offer of refilling. processeco option was just one glass per person. because of the cold approach of the staff, the whole experience was not pleasant. the scones, where the best part.

Lovely staff, lovely place, took a bit longer for the food to arrive but it was a very lovely afternoon. Would definitely go there again, the staff were amazing.
