Seven of us were at dinner on a beautiful warm night, and the terrace was lovely, but...We started by ordering a magnum of champagne (155€). It came to the table in an ice bucket; when the maitre d' opened it, champagne sprayed on three of us and the ground and then bubbled over into the bucket. The maitre d' commented "That happened because the champagne was not cold enough. At least it won't stain(!)." When the champagne was served ten minutes later, it was indeed, not cold enough; barely cooler than room temperature. Clearly, the restaurant did not have the magnum of champagne we ordered stored at the correct temperature. This raises a couple questions: If not, why did the maitre d' take our order and not mention that it would take some time to cool the magnum? Why did he not offer an alternative - maybe two bottles of a champagne that he could serve at the correct temperature. And if it was not cold enough and that caused the spray, why did he open it? This was a disappointing, unprofessional start to our meal. The rest of the dinner drew mixed reviews. Several people said their first courses were not very exciting (the poached egg). The main plats also brought mixed responses; the lamb several of us had was superb, but those who ordered fish commented that it was not tasteful. Desserts were good. The wine list was fine, at reasonable prices. This is not an inexpensive restaurant - our meals were about 100€ per person. We expected a more professional service and that all the food would be of the quality that some of us experienced.I should point out that my wife and I were the only non-French people at the table and we've spent many months in France, so these concerns are not the result of an American bias. This was, simply, a meal where we did not get value for our money.
I would not say that the food and service matched the price. It took quite a long time for the maitre d' to somewhat acknowledge our presence. We started with a magnum of champagne that was warm and he managed to have some spilled when opening. No real excuse except that champagne does not stain, 2 of us had received some of the bubbles. Then no one came to serve after the bottle sat in ice for a while, so one of us had to pour.Regarding the food I would say so-so. The fish entrees were somewhat skimpy and tasteless. The potatoes accompanying had been cooked for a while. We had a good evening between friends but the restaurant experience is forgettable.
We made a reservation several months before as we wanted to celebrate our graduation and we had family flying all the way from america, just to find out that the restaurant had lost our reservation, and even after we showed them our email confirmation from the general director himself, they wouldn't do anything about it. Being the graduation day and the football match that day we had no choice but to get some pizza delivered to our home... Piece of advice: don't trust this restaurant. Thanks for ruining our night
Let me introduce you to the best bar in town, with a nice selection of liquor and the best barman in the region. You will feel well taken care of and delighted!
We had lunch on a day trip from Paris. The restaurant says it is across from the entrance to the Chateau grounds....a bit confusing since there are several entrances fairly far apart....we FINALLY found it just as we were about to give up, and were rewarded with a lovely garden, a great meal and a calm conclusion to our day. The restaurant certainly made the day worth the visit, as we found Fontainebleau Chateau a wee bit disappointing. Nothing disappointing however about La Table du Parc.
