Phu Vinh - Footscray

As usual the Separate Soup the Best, Spring Rolls Viet Style the best Mixed Noodles just awesome, well worth the visit again and again :)

Nearly 2 pm when I arrived on Friday and few diners remained so service was good. I stuck to the daily specials and got the "Thai Prawns" with steamed rice and pot of tea. The meal came sizzling hot and had eight large prawns with the veges and sauce, and almost too much to eat. I will return, prices reasonable, staff pleasant, place was clean, service prompt. Loved the flavours and the prawns fresh and crisp, bursting in the mouth. Right alongside the Footscray market and close to the railway station.

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and the food is always good. Lovely family run establishment often with Vietnamese TV shows on the big screen. Consistent, clean and good value.

When we walked in, i noticed a soup dish people were having with a slice of wafer on top. we discovered that it is the hu thieu soup of chicken broth with slices of pork, prawn, calamari and quail egg served with a side plate of bean sprout, lettuce and a slice of lime. it has a hint of a cambodian style soup, the sweetish taste offset by the piquant lime. refreshing and tasty, it was a nice discovery.

I just want to note that the dish titled "Stir fry beef and egg with rice" is actually gravy with egg and rice. I was expecting some sort of fried egg and beef but still enjoyed it after seasoned with loads of soy sauce and pepper. Quiet place
