Berties Carvery - Forest Heath

We made a reservation for dinner to commemorate a family wedding anniversary. We were greeted warmly and escorted to our table promptly. Our drink and food orders were promptly taken and arrived without delay. The food was delicious and the service was courteous and amicable. It was disappointing that there was only one other table of diners present. Despite that, we had a pleasant and relaxed evening.

I brought a group of 14 people to this restaurant after a tour of Newmarket. The staff were lovely and organized, setting up a long table for us and managing the bill for couples and singles in our group. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was upscale. We all had a great time relaxing and enjoying a tasty lunch together. We had pre-ordered from the main menu, but there was a carvery option available on the day of our visit as well. The decor was above average, with a well-furnished interior and a racehorse theme. The toilets were quite luxurious, which received positive comments from our group.

We came here for Sunday lunch. Starters were very average. The carvery was plentiful. I opted for Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roasties and vegetables. Everything was hot but vegetables were over cooked.

Have no idea why this restaurant is so far down the list on trip advisor. When we visited every table was taken. In fact people who had not booked were eating in the bar, which is not a bad alternative. We opted for the lunchtime carvery and so glad we did. The beef was done to perfection and melted in our mouths. The roast potatoes excellent, everything on offer was great. The gravy was also piping hot which is a bonus . Not much of a view from the dining room , just the car park. The dining room itself laid out nicely. Service was great. Will certainly be returning. Word of warning, booking is essential. Under £9 for the carvery , this really is value for money.

Had dinner here recently; we weren’t expecting great things and that is what we got. Was quite a quiet evening so not much atmosphere. Staff were polite but not very happy. Food was just ok verging on disappointing. And we were really not impressed when the staff started setting up for the breakfast service all around us while we were still eating our meal I realise they weren’t busy but they should have waited until all of us diners had left the restaurant (it wasn’t late). I doubt we will be visiting again.
