This review is based on their outdoor dining during COVID 19. My friend and I decided to get drinks after dinner and Austin Public was one of the few bars that was open past 9PM. Per Governor Cuomo's regulations, we were required to buy some food to get drinks so we got their cheapest salad. Order: Pink Lady (4/5) Blueberry Lemonade (4/5) AP House Salad (4/5) Pros: Open later than the other bars in the area Good selection of beers, wines, liquor, and cocktails. Covered outdoor seating perfect for the rainy day we visited this restaurant Cons: While there are barriers (green scrubs), the spacing is very tight and hard to get through Overall: Austin Public has a good selection of drinks and is conveniently located between all the restaurants in Forest Hills making it a great spot to hit up afterwards for drinks.
The centerpiece of Austin Street is finally back with outdoor dining having taken a couple week breather to redecorate and perfectly accommodate the new normal. And they have done it with the perfection we've come to love and expect from Declan and his team. The new menu of yummy delights is full of lots of perfect creations such as the lobster flatbread (OMG, it's so delicious and mouth watering and the lobster tacos (and lobster roll . They have also upped their special nights with their Monday Special of Sandwich Beer for $12.00 The Homemade Beef Meatballs, Melted Mozzarella, Marinara Sauce on a Hero is my favorite for that. And they're still doing their Taco Tuesday. Still, they're brunch burgers is the best in FH! They've also managed to create a great and comfy outdoor dining area that can perfectly accommodate the two-fers out for a date, as well as groups out for fun. It's enjoyable all the way around. What's even more phenomenal about Declan, Lucy and the AP team is that they've been giving back since the start of the pandemic. (Actually, they've all done this. But since the pandemic hit they've been delivering food to the doctors, nurses and first responders, as well as bringing the community together to support one another through these challenging times. THAT alone makes this place and these people top of the pack.
This place is a great spot for beer and drinks. They just reopened after covid last Thursday and are not at a full menu yet. They have beers on tap, domestic, cocktails and mostly bar food. Friendly and good service, socially distanced and nice atmosphere. They have horseradish aoli, don't recommend it's a bit to astringent. We enjoyed the blue cheese dressing instead and almost tasted the same but less harsh on the palette
This is one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood! It is a great spot for happy hour and trivia which they offer weekly. I try to go here with my girlfriends on Thursdays when they run Ladies Night specials. Outside of Happy Hour time, drinks are pretty pricey for the area so I try to come in when they are offering some kind of deal or special. They also offer a bottomless brunch option which I haven't tried yet but can't imagine it's a flop based off my experiences here for dinner. I love that they go ALL OUT for holidays like Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day. As for the food, I typically get the Cobb Salad which is always made consistently and is satisfying. My friends have never had any issues with the dishes they've gotten (quesadilla, boneless wings, burger). My only complaint is that it can get VERY loud and draws a good crowd throughout the evening. The staff stays pretty on top of it though and the bartenders are always friendly. Overall, definitely a great spot to grab drinks with friends. You're not getting THE BEST food Forest Hills has to offer but a safe spot for sports bar bites!
